Anyone can claim to have "10 years experience" on a website or WhatsApp status. But a contractor with 300, 400 or 500 genuine Google reviews — with detailed comments, photos and varied dates — is much harder to fabricate. Google actively filters fake reviews and penalises businesses caught buying them. So when you see a flooring company in Subang Jaya or Puchong with hundreds of consistent five-star reviews spanning several years, that track record is real. Each review represents a real homeowner who trusted them with their floor.
A 4.8-star average tells you very little on its own. What matters is the content of the reviews. Look for comments that mention:
Flooring looks beautiful on day one. The real test is how it holds up after six months, and whether the contractor is still reachable if you have a problem.
Every business gets a complaint occasionally. What separates a trustworthy contractor from a careless one is how they handle it. Look at the one-star or two-star reviews. Recent reviews tell you the business is still active and still maintaining quality. If the most recent review is from two years ago, that is a red flag — the business may have changed hands, reduced staff, or let their standards slip.
Online-only flooring sellers are harder to verify. A contractor with a physical showroom — where you can walk in, see the actual materials, and meet the team in person — has much more accountability. They cannot disappear overnight. This is especially important for premium flooring like solid timber or SPC, where the quality difference between brands is significant and hard to judge from a photo alone.
